I had an interesting call from a lady who had moved from America to France and unfortunately, the removal company lost the key to her 18th Century antique blanket chest.
I opened the lock through the keyhole, so as not to cause any damage to the chest. I removed the lock and searched local Brocantes for an authentic old-style key to remodel that suited the lock.
I found the perfect key and recut to fit the lock in keeping with its age.
